Appeal to people's selfishness
If you need to ask for help from an ally, don't worry about reminding them of their past assistance and good deeds. They will find a way to ignore you. Instead, reveal something in your request or alliance with them that will benefit them and exaggerate the emphasis. They will react enthusiastically when they see they can profit from it.
