Annihilate the enemy completely
All great leaders, from Moses onwards, know that a dangerous enemy must be completely crushed. (Sometimes, they learn this the hard way.) If even a single ember remains, no matter how small, it will eventually grow into a blazing fire. Making concessions leads to more losses than total annihilation: the enemy will recover and seek revenge. Crush them physically and spiritually.
