Control the options
The best cons are the ones that seem to leave the other person with a choice: their victims think they are in control, but they are actually your puppets. Give people options that always turn out in your favor. Compel them to choose between the lesser of two evils, both of which serve your purpose. Put them in a dilemma: they won't have any escape.
